TOPIC: Money Management for Kids and Teens
Location: Port Perry United Church, 294 Queen St.
This will be an interactive session on how to promote the skills needed to manage money as an adult. Start young with smaller money matters, in order to build the skills needed to manage funds in the future. Jan encourages parents to bring their examples of what they have found that works well, and what doesn’t, so that we can learn from each other.

TOPIC: The Collaborative Problem Solving Approach: Understanding and Helping Kids
Location: Precious Minds Resource & Learning Centre, 21980 Hwy 12
A parent will share information and ideas from Dr. Ross Greene’s presentation, “The Collaborative Problem Solving Approach: Understanding and Helping Kids with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Challenges”. Dr. Greene believes that challenging behavior is a form of developmental delay and a product of lagging cognitive skills. He is the author of “Lost at School: Why our Most Vulnerable, At Risk Kids Still Fall through the Cracks and How We Can Help Them” and “The Explosive Child”.

TOPIC: Self-Esteem – What it means to a child with a disability
Location: Uxbridge - St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 59 Toronto St. South
This will be an interactive session on how to promote the healthy growth of self-esteem in our children with special needs. Discussion will be based around eight areas that can help to build self esteem in our kids. Jan encourages parents to bring their concerns and share triumphs with the group.
