The Vision Continues for Precious Minds Resource and Learning Centre

You can be part of it!

photo Through the generous donations of individuals, community groups, businesses and provincial government grants the Resource and Learning Centre opened its doors in July of 2004.

The goal for the Centre is to provide a fully accessible location for Precious Minds' camps, programs, parent resources and workshops; as well as act as a community facility for other agencies, associations and community groups that offer additional support programs. The Centre is designed for children of all needs. We want this to be a place where they feel safe, comfortable and, most of all, where they have a lot of fun.

As a charitable organization, we are dependent on the public's support for what we hope to achieve. You can be part of it! We are looking for more individuals, businesses and groups to partner with us in this exciting venture. Financial contributions can be sent to our mailing address and offers of service, donations or volunteer time can be directed to our office.

Thanks for considering how you will be involved in helping families. They deserve it!

Current Projects

We have quite a list of projects that we would like to complete in 2008:

Funds are still required to make this happen.

Future Projects

Over the next several years, we plan to prioritize and complete these projects as funds and in-kind donations become available.

History

In 1994, we began a campaign called "Centred to Help: Centred for Hope." Through a document and DVD, we shared the vision for the Precious Minds Resource and Learning Centre and provided information regarding the projects involved in our estimated $443,300 budget.

In the first phase of our project, the existing building was gutted, renovated and completed to the extent of the funds that had been contributed - either through financial donations, volunteer labour or in-kind contributions. We are grateful for the support that enabled us to open the doors of the building and we are overjoyed to see how this place is being used to help families in North Durham and beyond.

Special thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for allocating $75,000 towards our initial renovations and for their on-going support.
